Which e-commerce platform to choose in Morocco?
The right answer depends on who runs the store day to day, not on whichever platform is fashionable this year.

Three families, three ways of paying
A hosted platform is rented monthly: hosting, security and updates are included, and you can open quickly. In exchange you pay for as long as the store exists, and sometimes a commission on every sale.
WooCommerce, on WordPress, runs on your own hosting: no platform subscription, but somebody has to keep up with updates and backups. A custom build costs the most to build and the least to evolve once the store stops being ordinary.
The Moroccan constraints to check first
This is where most international comparisons stop being useful. Before choosing, check the platform can do these four things.
- Take card payments in Morocco. The national gateway is not always available as an official module: ask how the integration will be built and who will maintain it.
- Handle cash on delivery. It remains a major way of buying; a store that does not offer it gives up a share of its customers.
- Calculate delivery by city. Local rate cards are rarely by weight alone.
- Serve several languages, Arabic included. If Arabic is on the roadmap at all, check now: adding a right-to-left language later is expensive.
The question that actually decides it
It is not a technical one: who is going to run the store the week after launch? If it is a non-technical person adding products between other tasks, a hosted platform spares them problems they will not know how to fix.
If you have someone technical, or a supplier on retainer, WooCommerce or a custom build give you control and remove the subscription. The wrong choice is not the wrong platform: it is the platform nobody maintains.
Starting small without trapping yourself
Opening on a hosted platform to validate demand is a reasonable decision, on one condition: keep ownership of your domain, export your products and orders regularly, and do not put your catalogue into a format you cannot get back out of.
Migrating a working store is a project; migrating a store whose data cannot be extracted is starting over.
