Direct bookings: how riads and boutique hotels take back their guests.

Booking platforms bring visibility, and take a commission on every stay. A strong website gives guests a reason to book directly, and keeps the relationship with you.
For many riads and boutique hotels, booking platforms are the main source of guests. They are useful: travellers search there first. But every booking carries a commission, and the guest relationship belongs partly to the platform. The goal is not to leave them, but to make direct booking the easier, more attractive choice.
Why guests book elsewhere
Travellers often find a property on a platform, then look it up by name. If the official site is slow, hard to use on a phone or has no way to book, they go back to the platform and book there. Many direct bookings are lost in that one moment.
What the website needs
- A booking engine that shows real availability and confirms instantly.
- Rates that are clear and at least as good as elsewhere, with something extra for booking direct.
- Photography that shows every room as it is, plus the terrace, the breakfast and the street outside.
- Practical details: how to arrive, parking, airport transfers, check-in times.
- Pages in the languages of your guests, written by people, not machines.
Give a reason to book direct
- A welcome tea, a late check-out, a free transfer or flexible cancellation.
- A direct line on WhatsApp for questions before and during the stay.
- Reviews from real guests, linked to your public profiles.
Keep the relationship
A guest who books directly can be welcomed properly, with a message before arrival and a thank-you after departure, and with their consent, a reason to come back next year.
The platform introduces the guest. The website should be where the relationship begins.
